Calcium, Phosphorus, and Vitamin D in Dogs and Cats

چکیده
Calcium, phosphorus, and vitamin D are nutrients that play a key role in maintaining normal organ, cell, tissue function. Much is known about their bone metabolism, but these also important renal health, urinary tract disease, multiple other organ systems. It nutritionally to meet the physiologic requirements for each of nutrients, interplay between them should be considered.

15 صفحه اولSerum profiles of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, vitamin D and parathyroid hormone in Caspian horses during different seasons
Minerals play an essential role in the normal vital process.Calcium, phosphorus and magnesium are the most abundant minerals. Vitamin D and parathyroid hormone play a key role in regulation of their homeostasis as well. The aim of this study was to evaluate calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, vitamin D and parathyroid hormone on 30 Caspian horses of Guilan Province (south of the Caspian Sea) in two...
متن کاملCalcium and vitamin D.
Calcium and vitamin D are essential for bone maintenance and for treatment-induced bone augmentation. Deficiencies of both nutrients are very common in the age group most afflicted by osteoporosis. Calcium enhancement of estrogen's effects now have been clearly demonstrated. Additionally, all currently approved bone active agents have been tested only in the presence of extra calcium, and newer...
متن کاملIn utero physiology: role in nutrient delivery and fetal development for calcium, phosphorus, and vitamin D.
Only limited aspects of the transfer of calcium across the placenta to the fetus are known. Clinical outcome studies suggest that bone mineral mass in newborn infants is related to maternal size and dairy intake. Available data indicate that vitamin D deficiency may also limit in utero fetal bone mineral accumulation. Recent data suggest that maternal vitamin D status affects long-term childhoo...
متن کاملInteractions of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and vitamin D that influence their status in domestic meat animals.
Known and possible interactions between Ca, P, Mg, parathyroid hormone (PTH), calcitonin (CT), vitamin D and its metabolites, and interactions of each of these with other factors plus complexities and possible variations between and within domestic animal species, such as age, sex, physiologic state (i.e., pregnancy, lactation and growth) and diet, make Ca, P and Mg metabolism extremely dynamic...
